How did you and Brock meet? Brock and I have always known that each other existed, but we never really hung out together. The attraction started when we went camping at Hidden Lake. My sister and I were sitting at home when Brock called me, and invited us to go camping with him and his family. Not knowing that Brock was attracted to me, we said yes, we love camping! I had no idea that Brock was interested in getting to know me. But, as the weekend continued, I started thinking about how awesome Brock was. Let me just say, by the end of the weekend we were inseparable! After dating for three months, Brock felt like it was time for us to go our own ways, in terms of our relationship. After a few weeks of misery on my part, we became close friends again. Come to find out, Brock and I can not just be friends. After a bad falling out that lasted about one year, Brock and I rekindled our friendship. Since Brock and I cannot “just be friends,” we started dating again. We have been together ever since, and will never be apart again.
How did he propose? Brock spent two hours with my parents at there house in Wasilla. After my parents were done talking to him, we left back to Anchorage. Later that night, Brock, his mother, sister and I were looking at pictures and Brock asked his Mom and sister to leave the room for a little while. So they did and it was just Brock and I in the room. Brock told me that he wanted to show me something outside on the deck. So I went out side with him. As we were outside Brock took me in his arms and told me how much he loves me. Then he took my hand and got down on one knee, telling me how much he loves me and that he can’t see himself without me in his life. He then asked, “Melanie Sky will you be my wife?” He put the most beautiful ring on my finger. I then responded right away saying, YES! Brock got up, and gave me a hug and a kiss.
Where are you getting your tuxedos? We got all nine tuxedos including the cute little ring bearers tuxedo from Andersons Bride in Anchorage.
Who is providing your photography? I'm so excited to have Carl Johnson Photography.
Who is marrying you? Brock’s cousin, Robbie West.
What has been the hardest part about planning your wedding? Center pieces! They are so expensive, and I was not willing to spend a lot of money on them, but I wanted them to be very elegant. (more details coming) 7: What local vendors are you using and why? Anderson’s Bride, Jim’s Tuxedo, Carl Johnson Photography, Egan Center. Click on these vendors to hear their stories and why Melanie and Brock are using them.
How are your nerves? What are you doing to keep them calm? My nerves are fine. I am very confident in what I am doing, so I don’t get nervous. Brock is what keeps me calm! |
